saving money on magazinesMagazines are a mainstay of American culture, with hundreds of titles offering information on everything from fly fishing to French cuisine. We love ‘em, we read ‘em and we collect ‘em – but can we afford them? If your pocketbook is getting leaner but your love of the printed word grows stronger, we’ve got the tips you need for saving money on magazines.

1.Go with Subscriptions
Sure, you can shop the at the grocery store with coupons in hand to save fifty cents off of your next issue of Woman’s Day. But purchasing a subscription for that mag will save much more than fifty cents over the course of the year. Order them online, or fill out the card that always falls out of the magazine when you take it off the rack. Or save even more with these ideas on how to find cheaper subscriptions.

2.Shop Around for the Lowest Prices
There are plenty of websites that offer saving money on magazines. But don’t take our word for it – shop around the Internet for yourself to find the best subscription rates on all your favorite titles. You might be surprised at how much those “set rates” can fluctuate.

3.Use Professional Affiliations or Frequent Flyer Miles
Teachers, writers and other professionals can all get discounted magazine subscriptions for publications catering specifically to their line of work. Ask the customer service department of your favorite publication if they offer reduced rates to professionals in related fields. Frequent flyer miles are another great tool for saving money on magazine subscriptions – simply cash them in and save!

4.Check out eBay
With some serious shopping and a degree of caution, you can really save a fortune on magazine subscriptions sold on eBay. Safeguard your purchase by restricting your purchases to brokers who have a top notch rating, and you may find you’re getting your favorite publications for next to nothing.

5.Ask about Past Issues
If you don’t need the absolute latest edition of your favorite magazine, you might save significant cash by asking retailers like Barnes and Noble to purchase magazine issues that have come and gone over the past couple of months. Some of these companies would much rather sell old publications cheap rather than having to send them back to the publisher or trash them.

6.Read Online
Many popular magazines offer their top articles online for readers to enjoy for free. If you don’t care about receiving a physical copy of your magazines, this may be the cheapest way by far for saving money on magazines.

You may be saving bucks this year, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your favorite reads. With these tips for getting magazines on the cheap you can enjoy your faves and save dough at the same time. Happy reading!

Saving Money on Groceries with Rebates

Posted by Tulip in January 1st 2010

>>>>>FREE 3-day, 2-night vacation! Click Here.<<<<<

saving money on groceriesMost of us barely have time to clip coupons, let alone keep track of rebate offers. However, a bit of savvy shopping and organization can help with saving money on groceries with rebates. The key is knowing where to find these treasures and how to track them so the savings don’t pass you by.

We’ve got ideas for getting your money’s worth from rebates with a system you can live with.

Rebates can be found wherever you find grocery coupons; in the Sunday newspaper, the grocery store circulars and at the store itself. Some drugstores like Rite Aid and Walgreens offer their own rebate programs, so you send rebate forms directly to the drugstore company. You can also find rebates through websites that offer coupons, and certain manufacturers will post rebate offers right next to the product for sale in the store.

The key to saving money on groceries with rebates is to remember to send them in. Most companies count on the fact that rebate offers will get consumers to buy, but the rebate forms are quickly lost and forgotten and the savings never come. You can buck the trend by implementing your own organization system for tracking rebates and getting them submitted on time. Keep in mind that most rebate offers require the receipt from the store and a UPC code to be considered, so find a system for tracking these items as well. It usually helps to submit the rebate shortly after receiving it so that forms and receipts don’t have time to get lost in the shuffle.

There are a few reasons why rebates commonly get rejected. The first is that the rebate is sent after the expiration date, so highlight those dates and make sure you allow plenty of mail time to get your rebate delivered. Another frequent problem with rebates is that they are mailed to the wrong address, so get your information straight before filling out your envelope. Rebates must have a sales receipt attached, so hang onto those receipts after entering them in your checkbook. Finally, read the fine print to see if any other documentation, like a UPC code, is required.

Save Over $10,000 A Year in Groceries: In their Grocery Savings e-book, Tawra and Jill explain why using coupons is not the best way to save money, how to shop without making so many impulse buys, how to organize your pantry, make a shopping list, and reduce food waste at home. Another ideas for saving money on groceries with rebates is to make a copy of your rebate form and the other documentation for your records in case your rebate never comes or you need to recheck your information for any reason. Most consumers who use grocery rebates regularly find that manufacturers will send out rebate checks fairly promptly.

Coupons are great, but rebates can provide even more savings in your quest to trim your budget during these tight economic times. Find the rebates, get them organized and send them in promptly. The savings will be in the mail.

How To Save $1500 Per Year In Gas

Posted by Tulip in December 31st 2009

>>>>>FREE 3-day, 2-night vacation! Click Here.<<<<<

Want to know how to save hundreds of dollars per year in gas? Check out the information below: Don’t let your car sit in the hot sun. Try to find a shady place to park. Not only will your air conditioner have to work harder to pull the car back down, but it can also cause an evaporative emission to take place. It also pays to buy good windshield shades that blocks out sunlight to keep the heat out of your car.

If you have a garage, but you are not using it for anything but storage, clean it out and keep your car in there to keep it cooler. By keeping your car cooler, you do not need to get in and let it idle during the summer to get it cool with the air-conditioning, or in the winter to keep the ice off the windshield.
